What a QC photo set should contain
What are the four photographs? and two clips that make a Richard Mille build checkable: dial and rib effect, caliper profile, caseback spring ring, balance area, plus what a set that only shows the dial leaves you unable to prove.
A photograph of a dial proves a watch exists. It does not prove which build it is, how thick it runs, or what happens when you turn it over. If the set you receive before paying cannot distinguish between the classes, you are paying for a description rather than a watch.
What are the four photographs?
- Dial, angled at the light. This is the only frame that shows the rib effect, which is the most visible class difference on a Richard Mille build.
- Case profile on a caliper. The reading has to be in the frame. A profile shot without a number is a picture of a case, not a measurement.
- Caseback, open, with the spring ring visible. Ring thickness and layering separate the classes and are easy to see.
- Screws and bore, close up. Pentagonal heads and correct bores are cost money and time, and they show it.
What are the two clips?
One clip of the dial tilting against a light source, because the rib effect only exists in motion. One of the movement running, so that any claimed functional gear train can be seen rotating rather than asserted. Both clips should be of the same watch as the photographs, and the serial or case details visible in the stills should match the clips.
What does a weak set look like?
Four photographs of the same angle. A caliper shot with the display turned away. Photographs with a watermark that belongs to somebody else. A promised video that arrives after payment. Any of those means the set was assembled for persuasion rather than verification, and the sensible response is to ask again rather than to proceed.
Why we send these before payment
Because after payment there is nothing left to check against. The order of events here is: confirm availability, photograph the watch, send you the files, and only then discuss payment. If the watch in the photographs is not the class that was quoted, the order stops, no money has moved, and nothing needs to be argued about afterwards.
The how to buy page lists the same sequence, and the reference pages name the maker and class each build sits in.
